Stefania Grazioli was born in Como, Italy.

In 2005, after graduating from the University of Bologna, where she studied Theatre, Music, and Art, she was selected to participate in the prestigious Visual Arts course at the Ratti Foundation in Como. She continued her work as an actress and performer in both the visual arts and theatre—a formative experience that helped refine her expressive and communicative skills.

In 2011, she began a fruitful collaboration as an acting teacher at the Teatro alla Scala Academy, a role she continues to hold. In 2017, after completing a master’s degree in opera directing at the Silvio D’Amico Academy in Rome, she began working as an assistant director for several opera houses. These included Teatro alla Scala—where she worked with Daniele Abbado and Federico Tiezzi—and the Rossini Opera Festival, assisting Pier Luigi Pizzi. Her work increasingly brought her to Germany.

In 2019, Stefania Grazioli directed her first opera, Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore, and has since collaborated with various opera houses in Germany.

In 2021, she moved to Florence, where she became revival director at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, working alongside renowned directors such as Sven-Eric Bechtolf, Cesare Lievi, Grischa Asagaroff, Damiano Michieletto, Roberto Andò, and Leo Muscato.

Since 2022, she has overseen the revival of several productions at Maggio Musicale, including La Traviata by Livermore, Don Giovanni by Ferrara, Falstaff by Bechtolf, La Bohème by Ravella, Don Pasquale by Miller, and Turandot in Zhang Yimou’s historic staging, conducted by Zubin Mehta.

In December 2024, she made her directorial debut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale with La Traviata, conducted by Renato Palumbo.
